The ccTLD .lt was established by the Internic on June the 3rd 1992 and has ever since been managed by the Kaunas University of Technology’s Information Technology Development Institute. The registration under the .lt ccTLD has been since June of the year 2000 entirely open for everyone in all regards. Before, the registration under the ccTLD was reserved only to companies and registered organizations. The registration process takes from 2 to 5 business days. Currently, there are over 22 000 domain names registered under the .lt ccTLD.
