Summary |
|
The Italian registrar agency is the Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the Italian National Research Council, a non for profit organization. It manages the operational registries of the Top Level Domain "it", applying the rules made by the Italian Rules Committee.
After the total liberalization of the internet domain name registration in Italy (it is now sufficient to have a place of business/residence in the European Union to register a .it name), which took place on the 11th of December of 1999, the number of registered domains has increased dramatically.
Today, there are more than 2,500,000 registered domain names under the Top Level Domain .it. The ccTLD .it was established by the Internic on December the 23th 1987.
